His Highness Dr Shaikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, urged the UAE Football Association (FA) to alienate itself from the conflict over the row of Al Ahli’s Romanian coach Olaroiu Cosmin.

“Cosmin should have not been judged too harshly as the FA did. I would blame Yousuf Al Sharief, chairman of the arbitration panel and the UAEFA for that action,” Dr Shaikh Sultan told the Sharjah Radio and TVon Thursday.

“Things should not be run that way within our sports community. Sport is very crucial for our society and unless we knew how to manage it the right way things may go wrong and worsen. I would like to call the FA to reconsider its six-month suspension because it was illegal and unjustifiable,” he added.

“Yousuf Al Sharief is a judge and he should be in the court and not in the public stand of the football venues. Let’s determine our differences within our society and we do not need to take them to the Fifa. Al Ain can get their financial dues say Dh500,000 in or out of court,” he added.

“I have been following Al Ahli during their last three encounters and I was too much sad for them. I love all our football clubs and I also love fair play. I was too much delighted when I saw Al Wasl returning to the winners’ enclosure after the structural change,” he said.

Regarding the fixtures of the league matches, Shaikh Sultan said: “I don’t understand why they are holding the matches over the weekends alone. We want to be excited every day and we would like to see the teams playing throughout the week days.”
