SSS league for Filipinos

The inaugural Sunbeach Sports League basketball tournament commences on May 18 at the Al Khulafa’a Rashideen Boy’s School in Al Ghusais near the Dubai Free Zone Metro Station.

Sunbeach Sports Services (SSS), a well-established recreational facility company headquartered in Dubai organises sporting events locally in beach and indoor volleyball, basketball, badminton and swimming, amongst others, and also local and international scuba diving trips, a media release said.

Licensed and recognised by the Dubai Sports Council, SSS endeavours to further promote local sporting events here in UAE and spearhead camaraderie among sports enthusiasts from different nations thereby bridging the gap through sports, the release added.

Organisers say the competition (basketball league) is expected to draw awareness among enthusiasts all over the UAE.

There will be two divisions in the men’s section. The registration fee is Dh3,000. Each team should be composed of a maximum of 15 players plus 3 reserves.

Division 1 is an all-Filipino category, and rosters should be composed of 3 Class B only along with C players. The height restrictions will be 6’3’ and below.

For Division 2, again for Filipinos, the rosters should be composed of pure Class C players. Height restrictions should be 6’1” and below.
