Sports gives peace movement a boost

Sports has given the Peace and Sport Dubai Forum 2013 a big boost as a series of promotional events and activities aim to highlight and accompany the movement in the emirate for the first time this month.

The activities are organised by the Dubai Sports Council (DSC) in collaboration with Peace and Sport International under the slogan of ‘Together with Sports…We build Sustainable Peace’.

The programme includes over thirty accompanying activities, three of which have already commenced, organisers said.

The Peace and Sport Dubai Forum 2013 supportive programme of activities and events continues today at Sky Dive Dubai. Where a number of sky divers will jump and carry the national flag along with a Peace and Sport Dubai Forum banner over the Palm. Over the next few weeks, a number of events will take place including; two workshops, for boys and girls, at Zayed University on Wednesday and Thursday, March 27 and 28 respectively.

A table tennis tournament will follow at Mirdif City Center on March 29 followed by an expatriate football cup on April 5th at the Dubai Municipality Club. The Peace and Sport Dubai Forum 2013 will also support the International Dubai Chess Open that will take place at the Dubai Chess Club between April 6 and 16.

Additionally, an endurance cycling race will take place at the Dubai Velodrome on April 8.

There will be more workshops at the Jazeera University and the American University of Sharjah on April 9 and 10. A tour of the Emirates will be carried out by the Peace and Sport Dubai 2013 Forum Bus from April 11-14.
