Al Ain — As Miroslav Stoch put it past Spain’s legendary goalkeeper Iker Casillas for Slovakia’s match-winner in UEFA Euro 2016 qualifying at Tehelné pole thousands of miles away in Bratislava, Slovakia, on October 9, back home in the Garden City of Al Ain, thousands were cheering on and were proud of the 24-year-old.

The midfielder is on loan spell at Al Ain from Turkish side Fenerbahce.

Stoch, who dons the No.90 jersey at Al Ain, has so far scored two goals in the Arabian Gulf League. With the game locked 1-1 at the Tehelné pole, Stoch fired the winner, three minutes from time to hand three-time winners and defending champions Spain their first defeat in qualifying in eight years. Slovakia now lead Group C with nine points from three games after having also beaten Ukraine 1-0 and Belarus 3-1. Stoch was ecstatic with the goal and said that it felt like it was his “first goal.”

“It’s definitely the most valuable goal for me. I felt then like it was my first goal ever especially that it gave us a stunning European qualifying win over Spain, Euro 2012 title holders. Winning that game will drive us to carry on our successful journey in the Euro 2016 qualifiers, and we hope to keep showing a great performance that would ensure our early qualifying for the finals,” Stoch said.

after he returned to Al Ain training.

And he could carry on that good form when Al Ain host Al Dhafrah in the Arabian Gulf League at the Hazza bin Zayed Stadium on Friday night.
