In their second and deciding quarterfinal leg against Al Zallaq, the South Youth Centre played one of their best matches in the competition to register a well-earned 2-1 victory for a 3-2 aggregate win, securing their berth in the competition’s last four.

South Youth Centre, held to a 1-1 by Al Zallaq in the first leg last Saturday, were the stronger side in the return game as they started attacking right from the start.

They created a number of serious inroads against a struggling Al Zallaq defence, who conceded a goal in the 30th minute scored by South Youth Centre top striker Hisham Al Obaidly.

Al Zallaq’s coach Hisham Al Thawadi made key changes to his tactics later on by adding more strength to the midfield in search of an equaliser.

These tactics paid off soon from a counter attack, which was finished off by Mohammed Al Dossary, who smashed the ball past South Youth Centre defence and into the back of the net.

South Youth Centre’s coach Anwar Isa performed two substitutions at half-time and introduced Ahmed Al Chuban, who played a major part in the team’s performance in the second-half.

And while Al Zallaq players were pushing the game towards penalty shoot-outs, South Youth Centre skipper Ali Aamer stunned everyone on the field by scoring the match-winning goal from a free-kick, sending the ball into the top corner of goalkeeper Mahboob Za’alan.
