Smithard claims Sharjah medal
Sharjah Golf and Shooting Club member Keith Smithard fired a level par round of 36 in the recent Centro Sharjah Midweek 9 Hole Medal to claim the overall winners position.
On a cold and breezy December evening Smithard kept a very steady scorecard and was in great shape sitting at two under par approaching the final 9th hole but a disastrous net double bogey brought him back to level and what was believed to also be out of contention.However as the scoring was tough going Smithard was delighted to later realise that the net double bogey didn’t play him out of the prizes.
A shot further adrift on one over 37 was Ramli Suliaman who captured the winning position for the evenings Division 1 (0-11.9) golfers. Steady scoring for the 2 handicapper was helped even further by a lovely birdie 3 up the last hole. The evenings winner for the Division 2 (12 & Above) was Saifulnizam Saion who after knocking on the door on a few occasions recently went one step better to put himself in the winning circle.
