Dubai — Sana Tufail beat the stifling heat and humidity on the hottest day of the year in Abu Dhabi when temperatures crossed 50 centigrade in nearby Sweihan to lay claim as the hottest place on earth over the weekend, a Press release said.

On both days scratch players struggled to break 80 in exceptionally difficult conditions, yet the talented Sana who plays off a HCP of +2 sailed through both days with a feisty determination to hit gross scores of 74 and 68 comfortably winning both the Audi Medal and the Spinneys Stableford events at Yas Links Golf Club.

The recipient of the Middle East Lady Golfer of the Year, who returned from America for the summer, commented: “It was great to be back at my home club in Abu Dhabi playing in such challenging conditions. Fortunately I managed to pull my game back together with the help of my coach Alex Riggs after a long break. However more work needs to be done, Claudine Foong is really getting me to work out in the gym before returning to college in August.”

Greg Cox took best net in category A with a 77 and Aart Lehmkuhl secured second with a net 78.
