Abu Dhabi — Rouleau notched his maiden win in only his second start when the two-year-old won the Enjoy Daily Racing Tips @ bookies.com Maiden Stakes in Wolverhampton, UK.

Trained by Charlie Appleby, Rouleau made a good start and kept pace with the lead pack. Dubai World Cup-winning jockey William Buick asked more from the son of Exceed and Excel from Rachelle, and he responded by quickening up.

Rouleau then went on to cruise to a pretty comfortable win. He finished 2 1/4 lengths ahead of Rasheeq, trained by Ismail Mohammed and ridden by Martin Harley. Binzart, the charge of Marco Botti and the ride of Marc Monaghan, was third. Rouleau had finished fourth on debut in the British Stallion Studs EBF Maiden Stakes two weeks ago.

Meanwhile, Shamardal’s bloodline continued to impress with the three-year-old filly Elle Shade finishing second in the Bathwick Tyres Cardiff Classified Stakes in Chepstow, UK.

Elle Shade, from Elle Danzig, moved close to eventual race winner Farletti and had an opportunity with two furlongs out. But Elle Shade, trained by John Gosden with Robert Havlin on board, couldn’t increase the pace and was outpaced by Farletti. Elle Shade finished 2 3/4 lengths behind. Potternello, trained by Mick Channon and ridden by Charles Bishop was third, three lengths behind Elle Shade.

Elle Shade has so far had five starts with her lone win coming on debut in Wolverhampton in February, when she had won the 32RedSport.com 3/1 Mullins Cheltenham win Maiden Fillies’ Stakes on the Tapeta surface.
