Valdez, a summer signing from La Liga club Valencia, suffered an injury during the home game against Al Wasl in the Arabian Gulf League last Saturday. Valdez injured his right knee after colliding with an Al Wasl player.

He was taken to hospital for scans and the doctor said he didn’t require surgery. Valdez is undergoing treatment and the Paraguayan international will be out of action for three weeks.

Local newspapers said that Al Jazira had negotiated with Al Hosani, who plays for Saudi Arabian club Al Ahli, to replace the injured marksman.

But Al Jazira issued a statement on Tuesday that it was untrue.

“The Al Jazira Football Company disclaims what was stated in the local newspapers about alleged negotiations between the club and Omani National Team and Saudi Arabian club Al Ahli striker Imad Al Hosani, before the close of the transfer window, to replace Al Jazira injured striker Nelson Valdez,” the club said it a statement.

“The company and its official did not speak or declare to any newspaper or any media about any negotiations with the above mentioned player or any other player. The company puts its full trust and confidence on the current squad and it only aims to provide all means of success to the coaching staff and the players. There is no intention to replace any injured player,” the club said.

“The company considered and will always consider the media as major an important partner for the club and company, and it will always put all its official channels to communicate and share the true news and facts about the club, without the need to interpretations or misleading,” the club added.
