DUBAI — Mubashir’s superb spell of bowling guided his team Global Distribution to a thrilling eight-run victory over Team Interface in one of the quarter-finals of the ongoing Dollar Rent A Car T10 Cup at the Dubai Men’s College Fair Ground Oval, a press release said.
The tournament, sponsored by Dollar Rent A Car and conducted by G Force Sports Services, is being held under the auspices of Dubai Cricket Council.
Mubahir took four wickets for only 10 runs and crushed Interface’s chances of advancing in the tourney. Chasing 94 for victory, Interface were given a reasonable start by Adnan Arif, who smashed one four and one six for his 22. But his dismissal decisively shifted the match in favour of Global, who went on to dismiss their opposition for 85 in 9.5 overs. Amjad Gujjar, who picked up two for 17, gave good support to Arif.
Fawad Gafoor added some respectability to the total by chipping in with 15, including one four and one six.
Earlier, batting first, Andre hammered one four and one six in his 25 and gave a good start to Global, who went on to make 93 for six in their allotted 10 overs.
Shahzad was aggressive, hitting three fours and one six to remain unbeaten on 18, while Krishna Chandran made 11.
Mohammed Ibtisham bowled an excellent spell, picking up two for six, while Fahad Tariq finished with figures of two for 12.
In another match, Neeraj Ramamoorthy’s excellent all-round performance led Wings Cricket Club to a thumbing 80-run win over Rosy Blue.
Ramamoorthy, after making 18 with the bat, went on to pick up three wickets for nine runs and starred in his team’s victory.
Bilal Irshad and Shaiman Butt gave an electrifying start to Wings as they posted a mammoth 138 for three in 10 overs. Butt smashed four boundaries and one six in his 34, while Irshad hit one four and three huge sixes for making 32. Sajjad Ahmed offered good support, hitting 20 with the help of two fours and one six. Only Nawabuddin could make an impact as a bowler by picking up two for 20.
Rosy Blue faltered in their chase and were bowled out for 58 for 9 in 10 overs, with Haider Wasi being the top scorer on seven. Qaisar Ashraf too bagged three wickets while giving away only three runs.
