Mike Jones named GM of Powerboat UAE

Powerboat UAE, a newly formed company based in Dubai and holder of the exclusive UAE licence for the P1 SuperStock Championship to be launched later this year, has appointed Mike Jones as its new general manager.

In this senior role, Mike Jones will deploy his integrated management, sales and business expertise as the official representative for the P1 brand in the UAE. He will focus on establishing the race series and running the day-to-day operations and management of the championship in the UAE. The role covers all aspects of the series with the aim of successfully launching and operating P1 profitably, at the same time ensuring that the key principles which underpin the brand — affordability, accessibility and parity — are maintained.

Mike Jones comes with more than a decade of experience in the sports and marine world, having held a number of prominent customer-oriented and sales-focused roles in his career. These include Senior Sales Manager at ART Marine (Dubai, UAE); Business Development Manager at the European Design Group (Dubai, UAE); and Avionics Instructor UAE, Air Force (Dubai, UAE). He is an avid powerboat racing fan.

Speaking about Mike Jones’ appointment, Asif Rangoonwala, chairman of Powerboat P1 Management, the owners of the P1 SuperStock Championship, said: “This is a significant announcement for Powerboat UAE and we are delighted to welcome Mike Jones to the P1 family. “With his considerable customer service, sales and marine sport expertise, he is perfectly placed to drive the P1 SuperStock UAE Championship forward. Mike has a superb understanding of the intricacies of marine motorsport in the UAE and the Gulf.”
