Dubai - Desert Cubs reached home in the penultimate ball of their innings, losing nine wickets
Desert Cubs emerged ECB Academy League U16 champions with a thrilling one-wicket win over the YTCA at Vision grounds, a press release said.
Batting first, YTCA made 167 for six in 25 overs. Sami Khan top-scored with 66 while opener Dhruv Parashar made 57. Harsh Desai was the most successful bowler with two wickets.
In reply, Desert Cubs reached home in the penultimate ball of their innings, losing nine wickets.
Opener Faiz Nakhwa made 55. But the team would not have reached the finish line without late heroics from Neev Dasani (26 not out off 14 balls).
“Thanks to all the support staff and admin staff of Desert Cubs who were always behind me and the academy during good and tough times. We will work hard to maintain that position in the future as well,” Presley Polonnowita, the founder and head coach of Desert Cubs Sports Academy, said.
“Also, my special thanks to coach Dinesh for all the hard work he has done to develop these kids since they were 10 year old. Under coach Dinesh we also won ECB U14 titles in 2019.”
