Kashif powers Nucaf
DUBAI - Kashif Ahmed played a match winning role to lead Nucaf Tellicherry to a 97 run win over Xpress Money – Farooq C.C. with a fluent knock of 89 runs in the Blenheim Champion’s trophy for the ‘A’ division.
The tournament is sponsored by Blenheim Energy and is conducted by the Dubai Cricket Council at 7he Sevens cricket grounds.
Nucaf won the toss and elected to bat first and were jolted by Qasim Zubair who picked up two quick wickets to send both Prajakat Chauhan and Prashnath Braggs back to the hutch.
Ahmed Shaukat then had consistent Syed Maqsood leg before wicket to have Tellicherry in a real spot.
Kashif Ahmed then found a steady partner in Pravin Achuthan 21, and both batted cautiously to do the repair job putting on 72 runs for the fourth wicket when Pravin was consumed by Tariq Ahmed.
Kashif carried on gamely with support from the lower order but wickets kept on falling as Aamir Ifthikar and Tariq Shah prised out two wickets each. Kashif finally fell to Qasim Zubair after compiling a superb knock of 89 runs in 123 balls containing nine fours.
Devendra Taneja coming at number ten then rallied back to see their team reach 237 runs before being bowled out in 48.3 overs.
