Abu Dhabi: Al Wahda coach Jose Peseiro was unhappy with the break in the League as it would halt the momentum that they have built but said that they will try and make full use of it.

The Arabian Gulf League takes a four-week break because of the UAE team participation in the Gulf Cup of Nations in Saudi Arabia. With the National team regulars away, the Arabian Gulf Cup will be played during this period.

Al Wahda will still take the League’s top spot into the break after they edged past Al Fujairah by a solitary goal at the Al Nahyan Stadium on Monday night.

“Of course, I’m not happy with the long break but we will try to make good use of it and we hope there are no more injuries,” Peseiro said after the game.

And the Portuguese was not entirely happy with the way his side played against Al Fujairah. “We didn’t play really well in this game. But the most important thing was the result. Al Fujairah is a good team and they played very well. We did a decent job but it was not our best performance in the League,” he said.

Meanwhile, Al Fujairah coach Abdul Wahab Abdul Qader felt that they were not well organized at the start but added that they atleast would have deserved to come away with a point.

“My players did play a good game. It was just that at the beginning of the game, we were not well organized and we ended up conceding the goal. Later on, we played better and were a lot more organized. We had our chances in the second half but we unfortunately couldn’t score,” Qader said.

But I felt that we atleast deserved a point from this game,” he added.
