The UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation (UAEJJ) has signed a partnership agreement with the International Petroleum Investment Company (IPIC) under which IPIC will sponsor the UAEJJ’s championships.
The agreement is for an initial 12 months and may be extended to three years. It was signed at IPIC’s Conference Hall by Abdul Moneim Al Hashemi, Chairman of UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation and of the Asian Jiu-Jitsu Union (AJJU), and Khadem Abdulla Al Qubaisi, Managing Director of IPIC.
IPIC has now become a strategic partner to UAEJJ in its sporting competitions, including the Abu Dhabi World Professional Jiu-Jitsu Championship in April. The agreement comes at an important time for the UAEJJ, which is now the Jiu-Jitsu leader in Asia following the election of Al Hashemi as chairman and Fahad Ali, UAEJJ executive director, as general secretary of the AJJU. This means that UAEJJ’s activities will expand to become the focal point for Asia and the world, with Abu Dhabi becoming the Jiu-Jitsu world hub.
The agreement fulfills the directions of General Shaikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, to sponsor talented athletes practising in this sport so that they may excel and be the best representatives of the UAE. These directions mark a new chapter in the constant support provided by His Highness to sports and athletes in general and to Jiu-Jitsu in particular.
