Chasing a mammoth 317 for victory, Asim gave NMC a glimmer of hope with a well-struck 104 from 107 balls (6x4, 1x6) for which he was adjudged the man of the match.

However, he lacked support from his team-mates and with the asking rate climbing against some good bowling from Ibson’s Fyaz Ahmad, Parveez Nazeer and Rizwan Qureshi defeat looked inevitable for NMC.

Electing to bat on winning the toss, Ibson saw Rizwan Qureshi return to the pavilion scoring just 6. But NMC’s joy was short-lived as Tahir Mugal and Usman Mushtaq build the innings with a 176-run partnership.

Usman departed first scoring 79 from 85 balls with 11 hits to the fence and a maximum.

Tahir was equally devastating but was unlucky t-o miss his ton by four runs after he blasted 13 fours.Parveez Nazeer capitalised on the solid foundation given by these two players by throwing his bat around for a quickfire 39 from 16 balls. He clobbered four towering sixes and two boundaries to demoralise the NMC bowlers.

Fyaz Ahmad (39 not out) and Baber Malik (21) joined in the run feast to give their side a healthy total to defend.

NMC’s chase began in right earnest. Openers Niresh Fernando (48) and Sheyan Hirudika (19) put on 68 runs.

But they were rocked onto the back foot by Parveez Nazeer and Fyaz Ahmad both claiming two wickets each.

Then Tahir and Naveed Khadeem (31) raised 82 runs for the fifth wicket. But with little support from the rest of the batsmen Tahir was waging a lone battle.

Sandeep Shetty played a cameo scoring 21 from 14 but it was not good enough as the rest just capitulated against some good bowling.
