Michael Harradine receives the winners trophy.

Leading after day one sitting at one under Harradine had pressure from a number of golfers all within five strokes of the lead, however five birdies and just one solitary bogey helped Harradine destroy the strong field in the second round and claim victory by a whopping six clear shots.

Harradine’s second round four under 68 total also bettered the previous amateur course record held by fellow competitor Nathan Fisher by just one stroke, and in addition improved the Men’s Open Championship 36 hole record score by one stroke to 139, which was previously held by touring professional Andrew Marshall during the inaugural Open in 2008.

Finishing in second spot was Rayhan Thomas from the Dubai Creek, Golf & Yacht Club, who returned rounds of 73 & 72 for a 145 total.

Thomas who is only fourteen years old once again showed huge maturity to compete with the elder and more experienced field of golfers, and took away a huge amount of respect and praise from his fellow competitors. Thomas continues his fine form during the early part of the EGF Order of Merit season and looks set to dominate the UAE golf scene in the years to come.

The third spot went to Sharjah Golf and Shooting Professional Trevor Marshall who matched his first round score of 73 to complete the 36 holes in a two over 146 total. Marshall who was one of the original favorites before the event was pleased with his efforts over the two days and praised the superb golf produced by the weekend’s winner Michael Harradine.
