Hafsal powers Our Own to Mezon Cup honours

Our Own English High School, Sharjah won the Mezon Cricket Cup 2012 T20 cricket tournament for schools at the Ajman cricket grounds recently.

Mohammed Hafsal, the man of the tournament, was in his elements again during the final with a match-winning knock.

The title round between Our Own English School, Sharjah and G-Force Cricket Academy was closley fought.

G-Force put up 85ao in their 20 over allotment. Partha Shetty 18, Mohammed Shadad 16 and Mehdi Raza were their top scorers.

Mohammed Hafsal stood out for Our Own English High School Sharjah with a solid 48 as the winners raced to 86 for 3 in 16 overs. Yash with 8-2 was G-Force’s best bowler. Top schools here took part in the tournament organised by Mezon Stainless Steel FZE, a 100 per cent subsidiary of Sumitomo Corporation. Mezon Stainless Steel FZE’s Taro Odawara (managing director) and MK Gopal (general manager); Abdul Jabbar, Tamil Nadu state coach; former state players PG Sundar and V Subramaniam; and Veni Praveen, former Kerala and UAE player, attended the event. Sundar and Subramaniam officiated the game.
