While defending champions, Gems World Academy (Gems) booked their second trip to the final beating International School of Choueifat, Sharjah (ISCS) 53–42.
The highly anticipated semi-finals of the High School Basketball Championship witnessed the American School of Dubai (ASD) defeating Lycee Francais International Georges Pompidou (LGP) 47–45. While defending champions, Gems World Academy (Gems) booked their second trip to the final beating International School of Choueifat, Sharjah (ISCS) 53–42.
LGP started the game strong behind Adham Gaama, who scored 10 of his game high 20 points in the first quarter points. Despite trailing throughout the game, ASD finally managed to take their first lead at 40 – 38 going into the final quarter of play. With back-to-back scores from Hasan Ismail, ASD held on to a 2-point lead to sneak past LGP.
In the second game ISCS also started aggressively as they jumped scored the first 11 points of the game keeping GEMS scoreless for the first 5 mins. However, GEMS executed a defensive press, and gradually closed the half trailing ISCS by only 1 point. Jordi Menkhorst led the way for GEMS on both ends of the floor, with 19 points, and 8 blocks. The High School Basketball Championship season concludes with the final on Friday, February 28.
