Five-star Ajmal bowls Al Faraa into semifinals

Sharjah — A superb spell from Mohammad Ajmal powered Al Faraa to seal a berth in the semifinals of the 41st Bukhatir League for Interface Cup 2015. The tournament is organised by Sharjah Cricket Council.

After having restricted Al Faraa to a modest 185, Abu Dhabi Gymkhana succumbed to a paltry 70 with  Ajmal claiming a five-wicket haul.

Al Faraa CC opting to bat first after the coin fell in their favour. Openers Ijaz Bashir and Mohammad Altaf were quick to justify their captain Chetan Kansara’s decision to bat first as the duo shared a fine 46-run partnership for the first wicket.

Bashir scored a patient 46-ball 27 supported by just a lone boundary while Altaf hit 17 from 32 with the help of two boundaries. For Abu Dhabi Gymkhana, Zeeshan Safeer claimed three wickets while Tariq Khan and Faisal Butt bagged two each.

Chasing, Abu Dhabi Gymkhana were rocked by superb spells from Hafeez Ur Rehman and Mohammad Ajmal who accounted for five early wickets. That left Abu Dhabi Gymkhana 24 for five who never were able to recover from the shock.

Ajmal gave away only 34 runs in his 9.4 overs picking up five wickets while Hafeez Ur Rehman claimed three and Chetan Kensara bagged two.
