Al Ain City: Al Ain Equestrian, Shooting and Golf Club professional Enda Maguire seals his first win on UAE soil after beating Abu Dhabi professional Josh Taylor in a playoff.

Maguire who has only arrived in the UAE since January grabbed the chance of his first victory while playing on his home track. First out in the morning and Enda set the pass early getting to three under par through five holes.

“I got of to a fast start and my putter was very hot today as I didn’t hit the ball great. I took my chance on the first playoff hole and par four is always a good score on the first in Al Ain.”

Taylor in second place couldn’t match the par in the playoff and had to settle for second place after completing his 18 holes in two under par also to force the sudden death playoff.

Third place saw another Al Ain Equestrian, Shooting and Golf Club professional up near the top of the leader board in the shape of Tom Buchanan who narrowly missed out on the playoff after three putting the last green.

The race for top spot in the UAEPGA Order of Merit is still on between Callum Nicoll and Anthony Buchanan with only one stroke and 10 OOM points could separate them on the day with Nicoll shooting level par and Buchanan shooting plus one.

The last prizes of the day were shared between four professionals with scores of two over par with Fraser McLaughlan, Philip Waine, Malcom Young and Mark Ruddy getting more points to try and secure their places in the Dubai Trophy. The next event will be hosted at Jumeirah Golf Estates — Fire Course with the return of the Patrons Cup — PGA Fourball Champs on Tuesday 7th April 2015.
