Dubai — Emirates Global Aluminium (EGA) is to celebrate the New Year by sponsoring a six-race card worth Dh700,000 at the Meydan Racecourse on Wednesday. EGA, formerly known at Meydan as Dubal, is a jointly-held, equal-ownership company formed by the Mubadala Development Company of Abu Dhabi and the Investment Corporation of Dubai and comprises Dubai Aluminium (DUBAL) and Emirates Aluminium (EMAL).
A long-term supporter of racing at Meydan, EGA will return to the track on Thursday, January 29, for a Dubai World Cup Carnival race meeting highlighted by the two $200,000 Group 2 races — the Al Rashidiya and the Cape Verdi.
Khalid Essa Buhumaid, senior vice president, communication and government relations at EGA, and the company’s official spokesperson, said: “Emirates Global Aluminium is proud to sponsor Dubai Racing Club’s annual Racing at Meydan and Dubai World Cup Carnival seasons again for the 2014-15 season. By partnering with this high-profile event for the past eight years, EGA has successfully promoted the social and economic growth of Dubai.”
