Six Senses Zighy Bay and Zighy Marina are gearing up to welcome the return of the EFG Sailing Arabia – The Tour in its fourth edition.
Contested in identical Farr 30 one-design keelboats, the 15-day race which starts on February 9 will feature calls at eight world class marinas in Bahrain, Qatar, Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Ras Al Khaimah, Zighy Bay, Musannah and finishes on February 24 in Muscat, Oman. Supporting the tour since its inaugural race in 2011, Zighy Marina is the sixth stopover on the 760 nautical mile journey, and always the first port entering Omani waters.

The race will depart Ras Al Khaimah and cross the Strait of Hormuz in a leg race to Zighy Bay. The race will berth in Zighy Marina, including an in-port demonstration and lavish Arabian lunch on Friday, February 21, set directly on the beach of the leg sponsor, Six Senses Zighy Bay. Guests of honour and dignitaries from the Musandam Peninsula are invited to the prize-giving ceremony.

Resort General Manager, Axel Jarosch, looks forward to welcoming the return of the tour, “The evolution of this offshore race demonstrates the vast amount of maritime heritage in the region, particularly for Omanis.

“Each year the crews look forward to this leg of the race — welcomed into Oman with its peaked mountains and rich waters. When the tour enters Zighy Bay we will be ready to welcome them to Oman’s rugged beauty.”

EFG Sailing Arabia — The Tour, is the region’s leading offshore yacht racing event.
