Having won the toss and elected to bat first Wings put up a modest target of 161 for UAE Exchange. But Dylan had no mercy on them sending the batsmen back to pavilion in no less time than they reached the crease right from the openers. The left hand fast bowler from South Africa who joined Wings a month back took out his best performance claiming 4 wickets giving away just 9 runs in 4 overs. Dylan was well supported by his Afghan teammate Gulbuddin Naib who claimed two wickets for 8 runs. UAE Exchange was bowled out for a paltry 44 runs with Sajjad Ali claiming the last two wickets in his first over. It was a total dominance by the Wings bowlers having bowled out five batsmen before the score board started ticking.

In an earlier match Wings beat Fly Emirates by 8 wickets. Fly Emirates, having lost the openers before the score reached 10 could never come back to the game and had to be contented setting a target of 97 for Wings. Nigel Fernandez top scored with 32 runs for Emirates. Sajjad Ali’s splendid knock of 60 off 39 balls for Wings landed them comfortably on the target in the eleventh over. Sajjad Ali was declared Man of the Match

Having won all their league matches Wings have ensured a comfortable entry into the quarter-finals.

Meanwhile a hat trick by Asif Mumtaz with a brilliant spell of 4 for 21 gifted Phoenix Medicines an easy win over Grand Midwest Royal.

Asif struck the blow when the partnership was going steady between opener Dipendra and Nasir taking GMW Royal to a score of 3 for 106 in 16 overs. But the middle order stumbled after Asif’s hat trick spell, restricting GMW Royal to 110 before they were all out in the last over. Chetan Kasara also claimed two wickets for Phoenix.

Riding high on a successful season having won major tournaments, the target was no threat to the mighty Phoenix. Openers Qasim and Ijaz Bashir started brightly where most of the runs came from hits to the fence before the first wicket fell for 45. Saqlain Haider scored a quick 25 from 14 balls and remained at the crease as Phoenix registered a comfortable win in the thirteenth over for the loss of four wickets.
