Danube Lions maintained their clean slate to register their fourth consecutive victory defeating New Medical Centre by 67 runs to top the Group C table and qualify for the knock out stage of the 40th Bukhatir League ‘A’ Division Tournament in association with Interface Transworld. The tournament is being organized by the Sharjah Cricket Council.

UAE all-rounder Rohan Mustafa, who earned the man of the match, was the star performer shining both with the bat and ball as Danube Lions posted 254 and then restricted NMC to 187.

Danube Lions did not make a great start with opener Abid Ali (5) departing early after skipper Usman Khalid won the toss and chose to bat at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium. Mustafa and Andri Berrenger stitched together a fine 80-run partnership for the second wicket to ensure Danube Lions were nicely placed. Berrenger departed scoring a brisk 44 from 40 balls peppered with three sixes and two boundaries.Adnan Mufti who joined Mustafa scored a cautious 33-ball 23 including two fours as the duo added 53 runs for the third wicket.

Mustafa meanwhile reached a brilliant 71 from 115 balls with the help of four boundaries and a six as Danube Lions looked to be well on road to amass a big total.

Tarindu Mendis further consolidated the innings to hit a 58-ball 44 supported by five hits to the fence and one over it. Kamran Ghulam showed a lot of aggression but was unlucky to miss his half century by one run.
