A maiden ODI ton by Matthew Cross (107 n.o, 110, 10x4s, two 6s) saw Scotland beat the UAE by 31 runs on Sunday at the ICC Academy grounds in Dubai.
This was the first win for Scotland in the tri-series that Ireland won with four straight wins - two against the hosts UAE and two against Scotland.
Rohan Mustafa won the toss and opted to bowl first and succeeded in reducing Scotland to 73 for 4 at the end of 19 overs. However, Cross and George Munsey (45, 44 balls, five 4s, two 6s) steadied the innings with a 59-run fifth wicket partnership in which latter was the aggressor.
Twenty-five-year-old centurion was then well supported by the Yorkshire-born Sfyaan Sharif (22, 40 balls, two 4s) as the two added 54 runs for the eighth wicket before Mohammed Naveed removed Sharif for his second wicket of the match.
Naveed was involved in a collision with Cross in the over when the Scot hit him for a six and three successive fours to complete his first ODI century.
Shaiman Anwar, the UAE World Cup hero, was pick of the bowlers taking three wickets for 61 runs from his ten overs.
The UAE wicketkeeper Ghulam Shabber (90, 83 balls, 12 4s, one 6) waged a lone battle but with a quickfire knock that ended at the end of 32nd over when he failed to bear Shariff's throw and Scottish wicketkeeper Craig Wallace knocked off the bails.
Except Adnan Mufti (28, 36 balls, three 4s) none of the other UAE batsmen could support Ghulam's efforts as they were bowled out for 218 in their chase of 250 for a win. Four Scotland bowlers picked a pair of wickets.
