Cricket Maxway scripted a thrilling four-run victory against Brookfield Multiplex

It was an all-round effort as Cricket Maxway scripted a thrilling four-run victory against Brookfield Multiplex in the second match of the 13th Dulsco Ramadan Cricket tournament at the Zabeel Park Cricket Ground, Zabeel Park, Dubai, on Wednesday night. The tournament is being organized by Dubai Cricket Council in association with Dulsco Sports Club at the Zabeel Park Cricket Ground Dubai.

After opting to bat first, Cricket Maxway put on 139-7 in 18 overs and then restricted Brookfield Multiplex to 135-9 in 18 overs.

Cricket Maxway got off to a steady start from their openers before their captain Shomesh Shetty was bowled by Sujad Manak with the score 27. Shehzad arrived at the crease and played some glorious shots during an excellent 52-run partnership with opener South African Clint. They took the score to 77 before Clint was sent back to the pavilion by Nick Petricola. Clint looked in great nick and hit two hits to the boundary and two over it. Shehzad was the next to depart, falling to Deril D’Souza after making 35 (4x3, 6x1) off 22.

After being in a very strong position at 99-3 in 12 overs, Cricket Maxway failed to capitalise on it and were restricted to 139-7. Only Mudassir made a worthy contribution with a 18-ball 20. Naveed was the most successful bowler for Brookfield Multiplex with figures of 2-25 in four overs.

When Brookfield Multiplex started the chase, tight bowling from Harish bowling kept their openers Suleiman and Anil from scoring too freely and in frustration they lost their wickets to the same bowler. Two more wickets in the form of Ruhad and Pravin put Brookfield in a tight spot at 23-4. Nick made a gritty 32 to keep the team in the match.

Brookfield had a brief flicker of hope as Sujad, who was later named the Multiplex Man of the Match, hammered an aggressive 55 (4x7) off just 25 balls. But in the end Cricket Maxway bowlers and fielders kept their cool to pull of a memorable victory. Harish was the pick of the Cricket Maxway bowlers with 3-19. Jay and Gurjeet also claimed two wickets each.

This year, Multiplex International LLC will be supporting this tournament with all the Man of Match prizes for each match (31 matches all together) along with Best Player, Best Batsman and Best Bowler of the Tournament prizes.
