In the under-15 match, India scored 118 runs and later leg-spinner Ravi Raj’s second 5-wicket haul of the tournament, restricted Pakistan to 84 all out to register a 35-run win. While the India Under-12 went on to register their second straight win of the tournament, beating Pakistan by 61 runs. India scored 146 runs while Pakistan managed to score only 89 runs for nine wickets.
Both the India U-15 and Under-12 teams had previously beaten CCA UAE in their respective opening round matches.
In the under-15 match, India batted first and piled up 118 runs for the loss of five wickets in 20 overs. Opening batsman Afsal top scored with 22 runs off 38 balls while Sreenivas (15), Mehul (12) and Ravi Raj, the five-wicket hero of India’s win over UAE, scored 21 off 18 balls.
In reply, Pakistan lost wickets regularly before their innings folded up for 84 runs in 19.3 overs. Raj finished off with an excellent spell of five runs for just seven runs. Fazil with 16 runs was the leading scorer for Pakistan.
In the under-12 match, India, who were invited to bat first, made the most of the opportunity to post a mammoth total of 146 for the loss of five wickets in the allotted 20 overs. Neil Lobo and Rahul Nambiar gave the Indian innings the momentum with a 61 runs second-wicket partnership. Neil scored 34 off 24 balls, including six boundaries while Rahul hit four boundaries in his knock of 34 runs. Arjun contributed with a useful 18 off eight balls, later down the order.
Faced with an uphill task of scoring over seven runs per over, Pakistan threw in the towel without much of a fight as they were reduced to five wickets for 26 runs. Osama’s cameo knock of 18 off 22 balls enabled Pakistan reach a respectable 85 for the loss of nine wickets at the end of the stipulated 20 over-match. Ajmal, Nishant and Adil all claimed two wickets each for India.
