An event in progress during the CBDYAC meet in Dubai
The qualifying stages of the third edition of the Commercial Bank of Dubai Athletics Competition (CBDYAC) 2014 concluded at the Higher College of Technology — Dubai Men’s College stadium, Academic City.
The Dh500,000 prize money event, run over a period of three initial rounds and spread over two months during the weekends, will see the finals being held on February 15. The inter-school athletic event, conceived and title-sponsored by the Commercial Bank of Dubai in partnership with the Dubai Sports Council, is being conducted under the patronage of Shaikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of Dubai Sports Council.
Over 1,800 students from 82 schools participated in the qualifying rounds of the third edition of the competition out of which nearly 500 students from 60 schools have qualified for the grand finale, which will be held at the same venue. The students will participate in six age categories: Under-11, Under-14 and Under-17 for boys, and Under-11, Under-14 and Under-16 for girls.
