Braggs sinks Seven Seas Strikers

Opener Prashant Braggs smashed a quick-fire half century and powered Danube Lions to an emphatic 46-run victory over Seven Seas Strikers in a Group B match in the ongoing DCC Ramadan Cricket tournament at the Dubai Men’s College Fair Grounds Oval on Thursday night.

Danube Lions scored a six-wicket victory

Braggs sealed the fate of the match with a 55-ball 77, including eight fours and three sixes as Danube posted a competitive 187 for six after skipper Rohan Mustafa decided to bat first.

Danube lost their other opener Sami Ullah quite early with captain Freddy Sidhwa sending him back for one.

However, Braggs added a crucial 62 run partnership for the second wicket with Andri Berenger, who scored a 17-ball 20 with the help of three boundaries.

Danube score was boosted by contributions from Mustafa (14), Farman (14), Adnan Mufti (22) and Naveed, who remained not out on 18 off 15 balls.

Amjad Gujjar was the pick of the Seven Seas bowlers as he took three for 23 from his five overs, while Sheraz Ahmad and Shafaqat picked one wicket apiece.

The Seven Seas’ chase faltered from the start itself with them losing four wickets for 41.

Waqas, who hit three fours in his seven-ball 12, was the first to go with Riaz Afridi striking for Danube.

Shabir too followed soon, giving wicket to Zahoor, who finished with impressive figures of 2-9 from three overs.

Rohan picked up two wickets for 32, while Naveed too added one wicket to his credit.

Sheraz was the top scorer for Seven Seas as he remained not out on 37 from 26 balls, including three sixes and two fours.

The 25-over tourney, being conducted under the auspices of Dubai Cricket Council, has 16 top teams vying for the prestigious title.
