Dubai — A swashbuckling unbeaten 86 from man of the match Bilal Irshad powered Team Interface to an emphatic 39-run win over Al Faraa Contracting Company in Group A of the 4th Interface Transworld Ramadan T20 Cricket Tournament at the Fairgrounds of the Dubai Men’s College.

Al Faraa bowlers were right on the money after their skipper Chetan Kantara won the toss and put Team Interface in. Hafeez Ur Rehman sent Fahad Tariq scurrying back to the pavilion for just one while the other opener Hafiz Kaleem was run out and with Kamran Shahzad removing Ramveer Rai, Interface were all at sea.

But Shahzad Malik and Bilal Irshad stemmed the rot with a superb 95-run partnership to pull their team out from troubled waters and give them a fighting chance.

Malik hit a six and four boundaries in his 32-ball 43 but Bilal took the attack to the sword by slamming 86 from 56 balls which included four towering sixes and five fours.

Mohammad Butta contributed 21 from 17 balls with three fours to propel Interface to 175.

Al Faraa began their chase on a good note with Nabeel Butt (29), Naveed Sarwar (29) and Gulraiz Sadaf (28) making contributions but none went on to score a big one which could have taken Al Faraa to victory who in the end fell short and were bowled out for 136.

In a Group B match, Wajahat Rehman struck a half century as Light Speed Garage beat Lanka Lions Sports Club by 17 runs.

Light Speed, on winning the toss, rode on man of the match Wajahat and Salim Rahim’s (26) to post 162 for 8 from their 20 overs. Kulith (3/26) and Renaldi Dias (2/31) struck for the Lions.

In reply, Waruna Perera (38), Heshan deSilva (30), Renaldi Dias (23 n.o.) and Kulith Rabel (20) tried their best but the Lanka Lions were deprived by Salim Khan (3/24) and Musab Khan (2/18).
