This month’s edition also saw the introduction of an overall winner’s prize in addition to the prizes for best front 9 and back 9.

In tough and extremely warm and humid conditions it was the father and son pairing of Alistair and Daniel McGregor who took the spoils by returning an 18 hole net score of 64.2, beating their nearest rivals by just 0.2 of a shot. A superb score with consistent golf throughout both formats.

Missing out by the 0.2 was another father and son pairing, this time it was SGSC member Mohammad Firdaus and his 11 year old son Zubair Firdaus, although they were disappointed to have missed the first ever overall winners spot they returned a incredible 7 under net 29 on the back nine Betterball format to claim the award, steady golf from Mohammad while Zubair chipped in well making pars on both short par 3’s.

The final award on the day for the front 9 Texas Scramble went to father and son-in-law Mike O’Neill and John Gould, who continue their fine partnership after success in the earlier SGSC Ultimate Pairs competition by claiming this award in the BMW edition for June. A net score of 2 under 34 was good enough to walk away with the award. Gould was also hitting long in the mornings play and managed to scoop the longest drive award on Sharjah’s 7th hole to further increase his prize money.

The other notable prize went to new member Salim Shaikh who knocked his ball closest on the par 3 17th hole to claim the nearest the pin award in his first BMW competition.

All winners receive fine commemorative plaques and pro shop vouchers courtesy of our extremely loyal sponsors BMW.
