UAE-Slovak economic relations to receive boost

ABU DHABI: Minister of Economy, Sultan Bin Saeed Al Mansouri, and the First State Secretary of the Ministry of Economy of the Slovak Republic, Pavol Pavlis, today discussed ways to enhance economic, trade and investment cooperation and relations between the two countries.

The meeting discussed the establishment of a joint commission to enhance economic cooperation and relations between the business community of both countries.

The setting up of a representative trade office for the Slovak Republic in the UAE was also discussed at the meeting.

Al Mansouri expressed the Ministry’s preparedness to provide facilities for the office which he said will give a boost to relations between the two countries and to trade exchange which stood at AED567 million by the end of 2011. The figure, Al Mansouri said, is modest and does not reflect the potentials and aspirations of both countries.

The minister briefed the Slovak official on the advantages of investing in the UAE which he said represents a gateway between the East and the West at the center of the world.

For his part, the Slovak official praised the UAE for the measures it took to contain the consequences of the global financial and accelerate recovery.

He noted that the UAE managed to consolidate its global economic position, thanks to the vision of the wise leadership.

He further expressed hopes for better trade and economic relations with the UAE.
