Shaikha Lubna outlined the UAE’s key strategies for maintaining its economic growth even as the world prepares for a one to two per cent slump within the year.
The Minister said that while the global downturn had primarily affected mature Western economies, it also has had a significant impact on the growth plans of less badly hit regions such as the Middle East.
“The Arab world has begun to take a more planned approach to development, which will be beneficial in the long run as it focuses on opportunities that have emerged from the crisis,” she said. “The UAE, in particular, is well prepared to take advantage of the more positive global economic growth predicted in 2010.”
She was addressing the two-day forum, which has drawn prominent international figures to the Central European resort of Bled.
