This is the first official visit of Mayor of Montreux to Dubai and also first visit to any retail outlet in the emirate.

“Swiss food products are very popular in the UAE as we see increasing demand. We are stocking a large number of Swiss products, which includes dairy products, confectionery and cereals. We are very keen to expand our Swiss product portfolio at our supermarkets across the UAE,” Kamal Vachani said.

Laurent Wehrli said: “I am delighted to see Swiss products range here and we are also keen to export more products to Dubai and the UAE thorough Swiss companies.” Wehrli also appreciated Al Maya’s role in promoting Swiss products in the UAE.

Al Maya Group, the UAE-based business conglomerate, has more than 40 supermarkets in the GCC countries in addition to other businesses. The group recently expanded its reach in Oman and Abu Dhabi by opening new outlets this year. Plans are afoot to open more supermarkets in the GCC countries, said Vachani.

Al Maya Group is the proud winner of Superbrand Status for the year 2013 and looks forward to continuing the tradition of excellence it has followed in the past, while achieving greater heights in the future. Al Maya Group is having franchisee for BHS (British Home Store) for Dubai and Sharjah and also the owners for Borders brand Book Store for the GCC, said Vachani.
