Abu Dhabi Tourism Authority chairman Shaikh Sultan bin Tahnoun Al Nahyan, who inaugurated the exhibition, and a number of UAE dignitaries, leaders and representatives of major participating companies and business tourism players from across the region, visited the Sharjah pavilion on the opening day.

Khalid Jasim Al Midfa, director-general of Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority, said the entity is keen to project the emirate’s world-class business tourism opportunities and infrastructure, and boost its presence at the Abu Dhabi exhibition, which is one of the leading international platforms of the meetings, incentives, conventions and exhibitions, or Mice sector.

Al Midfa said the expo opens new avenues and opportunities of interaction between investors and major tourism industry players and is dedicated to the development of the Mice industry in the Gulf and Middle East region.

The Sharjah pavilion at the event has been the venue of meetings with a number of participants and exhibitors, travel agencies, tourism authorities and the media and expects another successful participation this year as in the past seven years.

Al Midfa said Sharjah is working to develop more convention and exhibition centres aside from existing facilities such as Expo Centre Sharjah, the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry and a number of well-equipped luxury hotels.
