Global innovation speakers from the world's leading organisations will add value to the Dubai Chamber International Conference offering valuable insights on institutional performance and innovation during the launch of the ninth cycle of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Business Award on Tuesday in Dubai.
The conference will be attended by Sultan bin Saeed Al Mansouri, UAE Minister of Economy and chairman of the awards' panel of judges; and a beehive of local and international speakers.
Organised under the theme "The Innovation Economy: Nurturing an Ecosystem for Innovation, Excellence, and Value Creation", the conference will address the fundamentals of developing a sustainable innovation-based ecosystem in line with the UAE Vision 2021 to move towards a more innovation-driven knowledge economy.
Making their presence felt during the day-long event are internationally-renowned business excellence, technology and innovation experts, as well as policy makers, including, among others, Dr Jean-Eric Aubert, former lead specialist at the World Bank and the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development, and founder and president of Sign Institute France.
Dr Aubert, who will talk about "Driving Economic Growth Through Innovation: Drivers and Challenges", said that governments have a decisive role to play to create a conducive innovation environment. This can be done through a solid technical and entrepreneurial education, supporting innovative projects with efficient incentives and programmes and by getting rid of bureaucratic or anticompetitive obstacles to innovative initiatives, he said.
Another prominent speaker, Jonathan Oliver, global head of innovation at Microsoft, will talk about the importance of technology in shaping the future of innovation.
