The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (Dubai) Chapter NPIO has appointed a new managing committee for 2019-20, led by its new chairman, Anish Mehta.

The other appointments were Sundar Nurani as vice-chairman, Anurag Chaturvedi as secretary and Harikishan Rankawat as treasurer. The Chapter also selected Manoj Agarwal, Jai Agarwal, Sangeetha Nahar, Sheetal Soni and Rajiv Hira as executive members of the committee.

The ICAI is the single-largest statutory professional body in the world with over 280,000 members. It has been in existence for over 37 years and has 35 overseas chapters, with Dubai the largest with over 2,900 registered members.

On the selection as chairman, Mehta said: "We continuously strive to upgrade technical knowledge of our members by bringing learned speakers, motivational leaders and technical experts to share expertise and enhance knowledge of our stakeholders. We enjoy the recognition as a premier accounting body not only in our home country but also globally, for its contribution in the fields of education, professional development, maintenance of high accounting, auditing and ethical standards."

The ICAI's presence in the UAE is felt across all sectors of economy such as financial services, auditing and assurance, banks, industries and government establishments, spanning over 1,400 organisations. Digitalisation and automation is forcing the key financial roles to be redefined. It says it will organise sessions on regulatory changes, IFRS, auditing, laws affecting NRI's, digital revolution and others, and will involve and provide insight into Expo 2020 initiatives to its members.
