ICAI Abu Dhabi chapter honors top performers

Abu Dhabi: The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI), Abu Dhabi Chapter, recently organised its 26th annual international seminar in Abu Dhabi.

The seminar was attended by over 650 people and included speakers like Sanjay Manchanda, chief executive, Nakheel; R. Seetharaman, Group CEO, Doha Bank; P. R. Ramesh, chairman, Deloitte India; Suresh Senapaty, executive director and CFO, Wipro.

The Abu Dhabi Chapter, which instituted the “Business Super Achiever” awards in 2011 to recognise outstanding work performed by Indians in business and professional fields in the UAE, also held an award ceremony on the sidelines of the event. The award of 2014 was presented to Micky Jagtiani, chairman, Landmark Group, for his distinctive business mantras of ‘Retail concepts’, ‘Estimating market potentials’ and ‘Key man policies’, which have enabled the Landmark Group to record high year-on-year growth rates.

“Excellence in Finance” award was instituted during 2012 to recognise outstanding work in the field of finance. Y. Sudhir Kumar Shetty, chief operating officer, global operations of UAE Exchange, was the receiver of this award this year.

Sudhir Shetty has been leading UAE Exchange since 1991. During these 23 years with the company, his charismatic leadership, technological know-how and operational expertise have transformed UAE Exchange into a truly global brand.

The chapter also honored Russi Patel, Krishnamurthi and Satyajit Datta, three long-standing members of the chapter for their outstanding contribution to the profession. The awardees were pleased to be recognised by one of the most vibrant professional bodies and expressed their gratitude to the chapter.
