HP gave a glimpse of its new devices that focuses heavily on the latest of its TouchSmart technology, bannered by the Envy x2 tablet-notebook convertible and the Envy 23 desktop. It also displayed a new printer line with Ink Advantage and an enhanced HP Play music service.

Salim Ziade, general manager of HP’s Printing and Personal Systems Group in the Middle East, is confident of the market’s response to its new line-up, especially with the Envy x2.

“Honestly, it’s the best mix you can have; it has both the functionality of a laptop and the practicality of a tablet,” he told Khaleej Times at the event.

Regarding Gitex Shopper — which, for the first time, will be held twice a year starting with the first from April 3-6 — Ziade said that HP “has got it all covered”, and expectations are “pretty simple and straightforward”.

“HP’s participation is as big as what is expected from a market leader,” he said, adding that the company wants to bring a “different flavour” to this edition, “more of a family-type event where they would come and make it like a weekend rather than a trade event.”

“If the same event is held twice [with no changes], people might lose interest… if you give them different flavours, you will able to attract more and new people.”

The Envy x2, which can be used as either a notebook or tablet, has an 11.6-inch HD screen, while the Envy 23 all-in-one PC has a 23-inch, 10-point multi-touch HD display. Both run on Windows 8. New printers include the Deskjet Ink Advantage 2515, 3515, 3525, 5525, 4615 and 4625 all-in-ones. Additionally, the HP Play music service has been expanded with its first major legal digital music partnership with the Universal Music Group.

All products are now available across the UAE.
