As a leading sponsor of the high-profile event, the Dubai Chamber made its presence felt through a stand showcasing its energy-saving and sustainability initiatives aimed at spreading the concept of responsible business practices among the private sector organisations. It is also part of a panel discussion on sustainability.

“Hosting this year’s World Energy Forum is a major achievement for Dubai and one that represents the emirate’s commitment to conserving energy for future generations. This is the first time the conference has been held outside the United Nations in New York and proves that Dubai is fast becoming the capital city of international conferences and events,” Dubai Chamber director-general Hamad Buamim said. The Dubai Chamber’s participation also goes in line with the emirate’s “Green Economy for Sustainable Development” initiative as the non-profit organisation considers this forum as an ideal platform for establishing strategic partnerships with global players in energy conservation.

“Over the course of a decade simple schemes, like switching off lights and air-conditioning after working hours and capturing condensate water to use in our water fountain, has helped us make a 77 per cent water saving and a 47 per cent energy saving, or the cash equivalent of Dh7.1 million ($1.93 million).
