The Forum, organised by the National Bank of Abu Dhabi (NBAD) kicks off on February 29 at Emirates Palace, Abu Dhabi, and concludes on March 1 with an impressive list of prominent speakers and important Gulf decision-makers.

“Certainly this year poses many questions and also offers much opportunities; therefore, we have arranged 2012 Global Financial Markets Forum to address the critical issues of the year,” says Mahmood Al Aradi, the Senior General Manager of NBAD’s Financial Markets Division.

This year, NBAD invitees include Paul Volcker, former chairman of the US Federal Reserve System and economic advisor to President Barak Obama; and Axel Weber, president of Deutsche Bundesbank, the German Central Bank, and a member of European Central Bank Governing Council.

“The global economy is grappling with solemn monetary and debt challenges as well as the question of how much regulations are needed. So we arranged for prominent central bankers to address these issues,” Al Aradi says.

Volcker’s first day keynote address is titled: “The Future of Global Financial Markets and the Impact of the Volcker Rule.” Weber’s keynote address, to be delivered on the second day of the GFMF, is titled “Eurozone Challenges and Opportunities: The Central Banker.”
