Gamers that are looking for a good deal on a high-end laptop that will do justice to the detailed graphics that many gaming titles today possess, will find that the best place to be is at Gitex Shopper 2019, experts said.
Many retailers noted that gaming laptops have been a strong driver of growth in the laptops segment, with demand for high-end models increasing in line with the growing popularity of e-sports in the region.
"Laptops, especially gaming laptops, are proving to be a popular feature at Gitex this year," said Narayan Agarwal, chief finance officer at Emax. "At our Asus stand, we are showcasing a Dh15,000 gaming laptop that has proven to be a big draw when it was launched recently in Kuwait. The growing popularity of e-sports in the Middle East region is definitely driving the demand for high-end gaming laptops. Many stores are capitalising on this by introducing gaming areas where they showcase the latest in tech and gaming titles. Gaming is one area that is seeing a lot when it comes to innovation, especially in the VR segment."
"We have been established in the Middle East for the past 10 years and we noticed that there is a market for gaming here, and one that it is becoming exponentially bigger as time goes on. Today, you can see all sorts of gaming events being organised and executed across the GCC. We are glad to see the growing interest in the gaming industry in the UAE, and we are glad to be a part of it," said Victor Vitali Chang, marketing manager at MSI Middle East.
Speaking about MSI's participation at Gitex, he said: "We have three of our latest gaming machines here at Gitex, with the best specs that the industry has to offer. We have also greatly reduced our prices just for this event so that gamers can get the best deal that is possible. In addition, we have a number of exclusive giveaways and gifts for shoppers including headsets, bags, mice, and even gaming bundles. This really is the best time for gamers to get their hands on a great gaming machine, at a reduced cost, and with great giveaways."
MSI's GT76 9SG Titan, which was originally priced at Dh20,000, has been marked down to Dh16,999 for the duration of Gitex Shopper, and gamers get a gaming bundle that includes Call of Duty:Mordern Warfare. The same goes for the GE65 9SF Raider, which has been marked down to Dh8,999 from Dh10,499.
Chang also revealed that MSI was showcasing the Modern 14, which is the latest entry in its Content Creation series. The laptop, which offers both high performance and mobility, has been marked down to Dh4,099 from Dh5,999. The laptop is perfect for designers that require a high performance and display, as well as for video editors and content creators, Chang said.
In addition to gaming laptops, Pankaj Kumar, head of OmniChannel Retail at Jumbo Electronics, noted that a fair portion of the demand for laptops comes from parents looking to purchase something for their children for their studies. "Recently, our 'Back-to-school' promotions, which focused on IT and related accessories, did very well. During this period, we achieved more than our target and we have grown our sales over last year, so I would definitely say that schools are now a large segment for us."
