Dubai: The UAE Economic Outlook 2015 forum is a valuable opportunity to learn from mutual experiences and development strategies, in partnership with the public and private sectors, and local and international experts.

This was stated by Sami Al Qamzi, director-general of the Dubai Department of Economic Development, in his welcome address. The second annual forum is being jointly hosted by the Dubai DED and the Department of Economic Development in Abu Dhabi.

“The UAE Economic Outlook forum demonstrates our fruitful collaboration with the Department of Economic Development in Abu Dhabi and enables us to discuss economic developments and prospects at the federal and local level,” Al Qamzi said.

“We have presented the overall Dubai economic landscape to the forum as well as the opportunities available in the emirate, while also sharing views on various economic hubs. We are ready to take into account all proposals and solutions that will emerge from this forum, and then work on applying whatever is suited to our goal of sustainable growth and business competitiveness in Dubai,” he added.

“Due to the large turnout and the interest earned by the forum at its previous session, we chose to extend over two days to deepen the discussion and analysis about the economic outlook for the year 2015 on the first day, and evaluate the process and benefit from international experiences in the field of the development of the knowledge economy in the second day. Given the importance of the topics.”

The second day’s sessions will be devoted to analyse and draw lessons from successful international experiences in the field of establishing and developing the knowledge economy, he said, adding: “We hope that this discussion leads to the diagnosis of the most important factors and mechanisms that would ensure access to the stage of the knowledge economy.”
