ABU DHABI - The intimate and historical relationships between the UAE and Egypt shall remain illuminated by the words of the late Shaikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, said Lt-Gen Sidqi Subhi, Chief of Staff of the Egyptian Armed Forces, as part of his speech during Idex 2013.

Lt-Gen Subhi and a high-profile delegation are participating in the most strategically important tri-service defence exhibition in the world, which is seeing over 77 defence ministers, 79 high profile military characters and chief of staff from 82 countries.

“We still remember Shaikh Zayed’s eternal words, ‘Egypt represents the heart to the Arabs without which they shall die’, reflecting his deep faith in Egypt’s strategic and historic role towards the Arab nation.”

“The President, His Highness Shaikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, deeply believing in the inevitability of Arab solidarity and union, has always been supportive to Egypt.”

Talking about the situation in Egypt after the January 25 revolution, he said all big revolutions and transitional periods are normally known for such instabilities. “We all have to be patient and wise enough to safely pass this critical stage. The Armed Forces in Egypt has sincerely, competently and exceptionally dealt with the fast civil incidents... particularly the security and social instabilities.”
