The Dubai Shopping Festival (DSF) is a substantial contributor to retailers' annual sales revenue every year and the trends are positive this year as well.
People in the UAE and other parts of Gulf region are passionate about electronics and DSF provides a unique opportunity by offering consumers value added bundles and deals and unmatched discounts across a range of technology products.
The 32-day event, which is half way done, not only boosts power retailers' sales but also provides a good start every year, according to key electronics retailers.
"It has always played a key role in our annual turnout and this year, we're expecting our sales to surge by 20 per cent during DSF 2016," Emax chief executive officer Neelesh Bhatnagar told Khaleej Times.
Bhatnagar added: "This DSF, Emax has left no stone unturned to give customers the best shopping experience and unmatched rewards. These are key platforms that impact our turnout for the year significantly and we want to make the most of them for us as well as for our customers."
New smartphones are among the top selling categories as well as TVs, laptops, cameras and tablets which will also grab a lucrative piece of the market share this DSF.
Vishesh Bhatia, CEO Jumbo Group, says: "As one of the most anticipated retail events in the world since its inception, DSF has played an instrumental role in raising Dubai's profile globally as a city that is home to the best brands, outlets, malls, and entertainment. DSF 2015 brought about a sales increase of 15 per cent for Jumbo, and an increase of 10 per cent in comparison to the average sales month. In the 2016 edition of DSF, we are anticipating a similar growth pattern."
Eros Group deputy chief executive officer Niranjan Gidwani also mentioned that the start of this year's DSF has been very good. "Certain categories have done very well and despite the current economic trends the retail sales are on an upswing," Gidwani added.
"We have over the years heard our consumers and planned our strategies to better meet their requirements and their wallets. Our key brands like Samsung, TCL and Hitachi are offering customers best in class prices that are truly unbeatable. To sweeten the deal our retail arm Eros Digital Home, both online and offline, is also offering customers a chance to win a Note 5 daily," he informed.
Jacky's business head of retail Manish Arora anticipates a stronger response and higher numbers during the second of half of this year's DSF.
"DSF had a gentle start. Typically, first weekend tends to be better than the second, however the trend was reversed this year," Arora said.
"Customer behavioral patterns often show that consumers believe that they will have better bargains and deals towards the end of the festival. As retailers, we advise our customers not to wait till the end of the DSF as key models tend to run out of stock and fewer categories remain on offer. Avoid the disappointment and beat the last minute rush," he explained.
DSF offers
At Samsung brand shops operated by Jacky's, the customer can get some of the best offers and exclusive offers on Samsung products. Products under the offer include Samsung S5 Duos smartphone with freebies worth Dh1,276. Samsung Galaxy Note 5 is on offer with Dh975 savings. We will be incentivising consumers by bundling our products with exciting deals across all product categories and also showcasing a host of new smartphones which are expected to drive the industry and TVs, Laptops Tablets and Cameras will also grab a lucrative piece of the market share."
Eros Group also confirmed that top selling products are smartphones and tables in which Samsung is gaining a vast market share.
"In terms of quantity, TCL has achieved a quantity value equal to last year full DSF ensuring the brand will register a growth this DSF despite the degrowth in the TV market. The brand is most likely going to emerge as the best seller this DSF as per industry reports. Samsung's SUHD TVs are also receiving a strong response along with Hitachi's refrigerators and small appliances," Gidwani explained.
Jumbo Electronics has announced a range of competitive offers and promotions featuring the latest products in the market at this year's DSF. This year, Jumbo has lined up more offers than ever before on all major categories such as tablets, smartphones, laptops, wearables, cameras and TVs as the company celebrates its 21st year as a Key DSF Sponsor.
