DED-Ajman issues resolution on organisation of trade fairs

DED-Ajman has issued a resolution on the organisation and management of trade fairs and exhibitions in Ajman, which included a set of conditions and controls which must be adhered to by the economic establishments when applying for permit to hold a fair.
Such controls safeguard the rights of all parties and ensure that the trade fairs organised in the emirate are in line with the laws in force therein.
Saud Sultan Al Shammari, director of Commercial Registration Department said the resolution on the organisation and management of trade fairs is part of DED's role to organise the economic activities and business sector in the emirate and its continuous efforts to establish the best business practices, by providing integrated services that serve both economic establishments and consumers. The resolution established a set of conditions and requirements that must be observed by establishments wishing to organise a permanent or temporary trade fair in order to promote business activity and strengthen consumer trust.
Majed Hamad Al Matrooshi, director of Commercial Permits, said: "The resolution requires establishments desiring to organise permanent or temporary fairs to get a prior permit from the DED. The resolution established a set of conditions, including the period of the temporary fair that must be 30 days renewable once, and the fair management which must be carried out by establishments licensed in exhibition management activity in the emirate of Ajman. The resolution also requires the approval of concerned entities for the type of products displayed at fairs, the compliance of displayed goods with specifications and standards and other controls that protect the rights of all the parties and stimulates sales of economic establishments."
Such a resolution comes as a result of the growing number of establishments organising trade fairs and exhibitions in the emirate to attract customers and promote sales within a specific period, by displaying a range of services, goods and projects in one place where all exhibitors directly meet the public and offer some benefits and discounts to encourage visitors to buy. The resolution provides for that fairs and exhibitions must be held at specific places such as exhibition halls, commercial centers, halls inside hotels, and social event venues licensed to hold exhibitions. It also includes a number of standards associated with the issuance of the permit for the trade fair and the obtainment of the necessary approvals.
