Argentine firms to set up branches
in UAE’s 
free zones

DUBAI — Minister of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries of Argentina, Norberto Yauhar, at a meeting with the UAE’s Minister of Foreign Trade, Shaikha Lubna Al Qasimi, revealed that his country is working on establishing branches for Argentinean companies across a multitude of sectors in the UAE’s free zones.

The minister is leading an Argentinean delegation to Gulfood 2013 in Dubai, was accompanied by Ruben Eduardo Caro, Ambassador of Argentina in the UAE.

He said that his country’s various economic and investment institutions and economic authorities have strong faith in the UAE economy’s ability of to create a Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) attracting environment.

For her part, Shaikha Lubna welcomed his country’s investments in the UAE, pointing out that the UAE places a great degree of importance on developing its economic and investment cooperation with Latin American countries.

The Argentinean minister revealed that there are strategic plans in place to increase his country’s exports to the UAE, which he said enjoys a unique geographic location that would enable their entry into the markets of other neighbouring countries.

He further commended the UAE’s strong infrastructural, legislative and logistical incentives that support the development and flow of global trade, adding that his country’s plans are within a comprehensive vision put in place by his government to have Argentina become Latin America’s trade hub.
