DUBAI - Middlesex University Dubai’s annual career day, held on March 14, received 90 renowned organisations from a wide array of industries such media and journalism, accounting and finance, tourism and hospitality, human resources, psychology, IT and non-profit organisations.
Some of the high profile companies participating in the event included HSBC, MasterCard, Ernst & Young, Jumeirah Group, DP World, Majid Al Futtaim, Hilton and many more. A large number of final year students and post-graduates participated. A total exceeding 700 students attended the event.
The aim of the annual career day was to give the students the opportunity to submit their CVs for entry level graduate positions, interviews with reputed firms, learn about prospective employers in the UAE, network with industry professionals and make significant contacts.
Accompanied by Professor Raed Awamleh, campus director, Muna Al Gurg, director of retail at Esa Saleh Al Gurg Group and chairperson of the “Young Arab Leaders” officially inaugurated the career day by giving an inspirational speech to the students. Muna Al Gurg said: “I would strongly recommend the private sector as the best option to begin your career in order to gain greater exposure to global practices as well as benefit from training which will also help you learn to do business in the global environment.”
The event was organised by Careers and Employability Service. “There was a constant flow of students and the campus was just filled with optimism. We are specially proud that over the years our career fair has grown not only in terms of number but the quality of employers who recognise the need to hire fresh talent,” said Ms Alveena Javed, Middlesex’s Careers and Employability Service Manager.
