In the last few years, Abu Dhabi National Oil Company’s LNG producing unit, Abu Dhabi Gas Liquefaction Company, or Adgas has doubled its gas output to 2,000MM standard cubic feet per day.
“We have doubled our industrial facilities through Adnoc’s whole-risk project, the Integrated Gas Development,” said Fahim Kazim, chief executive officer of Adgas.
“In doing so, we have doubled our production to 2,000 MMSCFD, half of which goes to Gasco’s facilities in Habshan for further treatment before it is pumped to the national grid in Abu Dhabi and the other emirates.”
Kazim was speaking at a recent thanksgiving ceremony in which over 50 CEOs and high-ranking officials from the public and private sectors were honoured for contributing to the growth and expansion of the gas company.
In his remarks, Kazim said that Adgas has witnessed a major shift in recent years; from an all-exporting company it became a firm that contributes to the national energy strategy and provides clean gas to meet domestic demand, in line with plans set out by Abu Dhabi Economic Vision 2030. Since its inception and as a main clean energy provider, Adgas strives to sustain its leading position in the gas liquefaction industry, not only as a mere LNG and LPG exporter, but also through meeting the growing local demand for clean gas, Kazim said.
For four decades now, the company has continued to increase its production, upgrade its industrial assets and maintain its excellent record in terms of HSE, operational efficiency and business performance.
He also highlighted the decisive role of Adgas’ shareholders, as they spared no effort to always provide with the latest technical solutions to keep the company at the industrial forefront regionally. Throughout the past years, Adgas has gone a long way in consolidating its well-established position in the energy sector, not only in the UAE but regionally as well, he said. Adgas was established by the late Shaikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, who on a visit to a plant asked how the gas flaring in to atmosphere can be stopped to protect the environment. Later, his idea became a big business proposition as the company was setup; its plant was installed 1971 on Das Island before the UAE became a federation.
Adgas was the first LNG producer in the region.
The gas liquefaction company has also received great interest from the President, His Highness Shaikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, through the Supreme Petroleum Council.
